2016 is off to a fast start and promises to be another excellent year for the Resort!  We have reached capacity with residents seeking warmer weather.   Our activity calendar is bursting and attendance has grown.   Many activities have expanded offering more classes and dates to accomodate everyone.   Rumors are plentiful about the need for more buildings to accommodate the demand.

While we have been incredibly busy with activities, it seems some projects have been idle leading to questions about when work would begin again.  While rumors can be entertaining, they can be incredibly off the mark.  A reminder - our next Residents Meeting is on February 4 at 11:00 am in the Clubhouse.  For those unable to attend, the next newsletter will provide details.

Until then, all is not what it seems!  The article about the wood shop proves that much has been accomplished despite the feeling projects have stood idle!

Williston Crossings Wood Shop’s third season has once again started off with an incredible number of completed and ongoing projects thanks to a group of extremely talented and dedicated volunteers.

The projects that the Williston Crossings Wood Shop has completed or that are ongoing include the following:

  • The Grist Mill kitchen was enlarged and two pass-through windows were installed on the front wall.  The pass-through windows are scheduled to be further modified to enlarge the pass-through space.

  • The Grist Mill rear porch has been expanded to accommodate a deep fryer to cook French fries and other offerings.

  •  Fifty additional picnic tables were fabricated, twenty-five for Williston Crossing RV Resort and twenty-five for another RV Resort.

  • Fabricated and installed fifteen wall mounted book cases in the Activity Building so that the Library could be moved from the Game Room into the Activity Building. img_4567.jpgimg_4564.jpg

  • Constructing a new Office in the Game Room for Alan Wallace, which will be completed by late January.
  • In the process of refurbishing the Quarry Observation Deck, plus fabricating and installing four benches at various levels. We are also fabricating and installing a floating dock.

  • We will be erecting a wood shed at the Gazebo Fire Pit to keep the split wood both organized and dry.
  • Also, we will be installing side rails in the Pavilion between the support columns to eliminate fall hazards and to further support the plastic side screens.

Other upcoming projects that the Williston Crossings Wood Shop has on the agenda for this season include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Relocate Bob Kozlowski’s Office into Alan Wallace’s old Office and convert Bob’s old Office into a temporary package room.
  • Construct a new Package Room on the west wall, behind Maxine’s Office.
  • Fabricate additional lockers for the Sewing Room to provide a secure place to store the various sewing machines.
  • Continue the refurbishment of the Railroad Cars to transform the cars into apartments.
  • Build a covered deck in front of the concrete wall between the Pool and the Grist Mill to accommodate live performances during future events.
  • Coat the railings on the Grist Mill and the Grist Mill Observation Deck with polyurethane and stain the decks on both the Grist Mill and the Observation Deck.

Once again we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the many volunteers who have generously donated their time and tools to help make all of these projects an incredible success.

We certainly hope that we can keep this momentum going through the second half of our third season as the efforts of a few volunteers has clearly enhanced the beauty, appearance and functionality of Williston Crossings RV Resort.

Our Sincere Thanks to all of the Volunteers!
